I don’t seem to be getting any better at this back to school thing. Last night, I almost Superglued my fingers to the kitchen counter sticking name labels into shoes (all-black insoles, so where to scrawl anything?). Panic over, I realised that four buttons on the school cardi were missing. If I could glue those on, too, I would. I’m coming to accept that I’m just a sticking-and scribbling-on rather than a sewing-in kind of mama. I suspect we are born, and not made: for the brief period I was in the Brownies, the only badge I earned was the ‘hostess’ one – for managing to make Brown Owl a cup of tea at our house (and remembering to warm the pot). Are you a sewing-in or sticking-and-scribbling-on nonstopmama?
