Here’s a hot beauty deal for Benefit fans!
Right now, if you buy the new Ultra Plush Lip Gloss (£13.50) online, you’ll get free delivery on your order (perfect if you’re a Benefit fan and need to stock up but don’t have a counter nearby, or are a too-busy nonstopmama!).
The glosses, which match Benefit’s much-loved Box o’ Powders, have a creamy-gel consistency, come in handy ‘squeezy tubes’ and the shade names (as ever) are great. I know my Texan mama friend won’t be able to resist Dallas, y’all, but my favourite, Coralista, is a lovely, made-for-summer shine in this season’s hottest hue! They smell yummy, too.
Simply click on the ad above, or go to benefit.co.uk to shop and enter the code ‘GLOSSFREE’ at the checkout!
Offer ends 5 July 2012.
“The early bird catches the worm … but has to use a lot of concealer!!”.
Someone wrote that in an email to me this week (a crazy-early one, obviously) and I HAD to share!
And it got me thinking … it’s time for a concealer post, since – as beauty expert Alice Hart-Davis pointed out in our beauty interview with her earlier this week – it’s not like we don’t get spots post-the teen years (far from it!).
So, here’s my all-time favourite, Estée Lauder’s Disappear (£17) …
Just the right consistency to make dabbing on and blending a cinch (truly), AMAZING coverage (as in, it literally does make things that have gone bump overnight vanish) and long-lasting. I don’t bother with powder on top.
Nonstopmama beauty tip
Always apply concealer after your base. Lightly press it onto the skin with your fingertip (no rubbing) and softly blend to ‘blur’ the edges. Or use a concealer brush.
Make-up artists have told me that they use this product on photo shoots to conceal scars, birth marks and more on models’ skin.
As ever, the proof is in the testing, so give it a try next time you’re scooting past an Estée Lauder counter!
Can you do a French Plait?
If so, then you can try out this different take on the classic, created by Marc Trinder, creative director at Charles Worthington.
Here’s a step-by-step how to, from the Charles Worthington team (suggested products are from the Front Row range). Read more.
Today, I’m thrilled to be talking beauty with Alice Hart-Davis, award-winning beauty writer, author of Be Beautiful and founder of the very gorgeous Good Things Skincare range.
Although Alice formulated Good Things with her two teenage daughters in mind (she co-wrote the aforementioned book with her eldest daughter, Molly), the products are adored by mamas, too, for their gentle but effective action, natural ingredients and deliciously fruity smells.
Not only that, but we all know that so-called ‘teen’ skin dilemmas – spots and all! – don’t stop when you reach your twenties. Or thirties. And beyond! The Stop That Spot! blemish gel (£4.99), for example, has won a Cosmopolitan Beauty Award and been raved about in Marie Claire as a great, grown-up troubleshooter.
Everything in the range is enriched with ‘super fruit beauty boosters’, renowned for their active skincare benefits.
Here, for nonstopmama, Alice reveals what keeps her glowing! Read more.
Just a ‘PS’ on the FAB New CID i-polish range of Light-Up nail colours which I posted about the other day …
OK, the light (on the lid) is cool. And you can switch it on without opening the bottle, so if you’re ever stuck for a torch …
BUT! I’m really loving these polishes because, not only do they go on super-easily and dry quickly to a gorgeously glossy finish, they are just as easy to remove in a hurry, too.
The colour slides off with just a dab of nail polish remover – no fuss, no mess. And GREAT shades -this is just a selection, above.
The i-polishes cost £10 each, and are available online and at selected shops and salons nationwide (stockists info here).
Definitely one of beauty’s ‘lightbulb’ moments!
