Nonstopmamas, I am usually sceptical about the all-transforming effects of beauty’s so-called ‘magic wands’. Unlike many girlfriends and make-up artists I’ve quizzed, I’ve never had much success with the legendary light-reflecters designed to target dark shadows and the telltale signs of interrupted nights (and, ahem, hitting 40 around the same time). The results have either been too unnaturally light, or too shiny, or both.
This ‘beat the clock’ morning – despite peeling myself off the sofa at 10pm last night, I still felt like I was packing lunches in slow-mo – I put Bobbi Brown‘s new under-eye Tinted Eye Brightener to the test (sizeable, if not of Panda proportions). And it made a difference. A noticeable, as in ‘oh, that definitely looks better’ way. Applied after tinted moisturiser (Olay’s Total Effects Touch of Foundation, currently on offer at £12.99 on boots.com, is a goodie), a swish of bronzing powder and I felt (almost) fresh-faced. Much better.
The trick, I’ve found – as with any concealer – is to lightly press it onto the skin and then blend around the area, rather than rubbing it in (and, consequently, off again). The pen – available in no fewer than 8 shades, making it easier to get the perfect match – is part of Bobbi Brown’s new spring collection, Makeup Face Lift, on counters now.
