My beauty secrets, with Kim Graham-Nye
What are your everyday make-up must-haves?
To be honest, with two young boys and a business I don’t typically wear make up on most days. When I do, I still keep a natural look with my MAC bronzer (below), a little mascara and some lip gloss. The one thing I will always do when I put make-up on, is curl my eyelashes.
How do you look after your hair, and style it in a hurry?
I always have a cut that is really low maintenance. As I have gotten older, I love the versatility of a short bob that can tuck behind my ears. When I want to dress up, I just hot roller it for 3 minutes and can walk out the door feeling transformed.
Any bodycare favourites?
I honestly don’t use many products. But I do love Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 20 (below). It was developed based on the characteristics of algae and uses innovative algae-derived ingredients.
Nails: nude, bright or au naturel?!
I never do my fingernails but I love to add colour to my toes! I just had them done in a deep winter orange with a real sheen on them. It makes me feel sexy!
Any beauty indulgences you try and make time for?
I absolutely love having a massage. A full body 90 minute massage is my bliss.
What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever been shown?
After using my husband’s razor once in a pinch, I couldn’t believe how amazing my legs felt. I have never gone back to using a women’s razor. Although, I don’t use my hubby’s anymore – I buy my own!
Thanks so much to Kim for chatting at nonstopmama today!
Confession first: I’ve always secretly loved the idea of playing beauty consultants at an at-home make-up party. And I have fond childhood memories of the Avon lady calling and dropping off beauty goodies at home.
So, when I heard about MyShowcase, a new, at-home beauty party venture co-founded by beauty editor Kate Shapland (pictured, right) – whose work has appeared in countless national newspapers and glossies – and beauty and style entrepreneur Nancy Cruickshank, I was more than a bit excited. I could feel my inner beauty consultant bursting to break free and immediately started mentally planning how, if I were to host a party or become a MyShowcase ‘Stylist’, I’d display the gorgeous range of products and what drinks and nibbles I’d serve …
MyShowcase does not focus on just one brand, but an expertly edited, truly gorgeous collection of independent ranges loved by beauty insiders. Hot picks include face and bodycare treats by Balance Me (a nonstopmama favourite!), make-up by FACE Stockholm, TLeClerc, Blink Brow Bar and NEW CID, and fragrances by Connock London, amongst many others.
Even the brochure reads like a glossy magazine (you can browse the full collection online).
I’m thrilled to welcome Kate and Nancy to nonstopmama today, to chat beauty and reveal their own must-have products!
My beauty secrets, with Kate Shapland and Nancy Cruickshank
What are your everyday make-up must-haves?
Kate: Blusher, lipgloss or balm and nail polish. It comes down to those three staples.
My favourite blusher is currently ByTerry Blush Terrybly: it’s a powder blusher and it’s got such a fine spread of iridescence to it that it gives your cheeks a kind of burnished radiance which is incredibly flattering. The brush, a half moon shape, is right for your face contours as well – a small but genius touch.
The lip gloss or balm varies – I’m very disloyal to brands on this and clunk around with lots of different ones in my handbag, pockets, glove compartment of car, desk, bedside table, dressing table – I even found a tube of balm inside a Wellington boot recently.
Three balms I’m currently loving are Connock London Wonder Balm (above), Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Gloss (they’ve done it in a limited edition red tube for the festive season) and Amanda Lacey Cupid’s Bow.
I wear nail polish every day because my hands are small and fingers short and the right colour makes them look longer. I’m working my way through the entire FACE Stockholm range of varnishes (below) – they are truly brilliant: I particularly love #161 (a proper purply bruise colour) and #148 (an adult blue).
