My beauty secrets with Karen Hardy
What are your everyday make-up must-haves?
Kanebo foundation (below) is brilliant for covering up all my tired lines! I’ve used it since the age of 12 and have always loved Kanebo as all of their products are so quick, easy to use and last all day.
Eyebrow pencil is another must, black eyeliner, mascara and a neutral lip gloss. Anything on top of this is a bonus!
How do you look after your hair, and style it in a hurry?
Having had a child, my hair went through a lot with all the hormones and, of course, with the amount of overuse my hair goes through with TV and red carpet events and so on. In the past, I have lost a lot of hair, then it started to snap off and became weak, so I now use Moroccan Oil products. I always use the Moroccan Oil Light Oil treatment (below), which is brilliant because of all the curling irons and straightening irons I use. Just enough to protect my hair.
There are two things I do to style it in a rush: throw it up in a ponytail, or quickly clip a load of extensions in, which works on most occasions.
Any bodycare favourites, products you love?
If I had time, I would use the Kanebo range, again. But, with running a business, being a mum, teaching with international travelling, it is definitely one area I unfortunately neglect!
Nails: nude, bright or au naturel?!
I always have acrylic nails, with a French polish.
Any beauty indulgences you try and make time for?
The only thing that I definitely make time for is a manicure and a pedicure. I would love to have spa treatments, but I just simply don’t have the time. In fact, even when I get given beauty vouchers, they are often not used. In a different world, I would live in spa resorts as I love the idea of them!
What are the best beauty tricks you’ve ever been shown?
The day I found out how to shade my cheekbones to make them more cut than they really are, using a darker shade below the cheekbone and lighter on the top. You can even use darker eyeshadow shades to great effect!
