For speed, ease of use and instant ‘wow’ factor (as in, ‘Hey, I actually look human now!’) , a tinted moisturiser wins hands down as a busy mama’s most useful make-up treat.
Add a serious SPF (as in a minimum of 15, but preferably closer to 25) and you’re really good to glow (and doing your skin the biggest favour, too).
Here are three of the best, in no particular order …
… actually, not entirely true, this is the one is my Most Loved. Richer than your regular tinted moisturiser, but I put Bobbi Brown’s EXTRA Repair Foundation SPF 25 in this category because it IS a fabulous, skin nourishing moisturising cream with a shot of truly glowing foundation. If you want to go sheerer, there’s also the SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free, which has scooped numerous beauty awards.
Then there’s Liz Earle’s lovely Sheer Skin Tint SPF 15, which gives a really fresh but flawless-y (think I just invented a word there) finish …
… it was Liz’s first foray into make-up, and has just been accompanied by a BEAUTIFUL, seriously slick-looking range of colour make-up which gives a fresh, natural, perfect-for-busy-mamas finish.
Another favourite, from the amazing Laura Mercier, with a not-to-be-sniffed at SPF 20 …
… make-up artist Amanda Jackson-Sytner recommended the Illuminating version of this to nonstopmamas in a recent post (click here if you missed it, and check out her other fab tips!).
Another hot contender, the new BeneFit Hello Flawless! base, featured at nonstopmama just last week.
A quick tip on applying tinted moisturiser: work quickly, applying it all over the face as you would regular moisturiser, and then go back and tap on a little more to areas which may need a dash more coverage (around the nose, over any blemishes) and lightly blend.
