There’s been lots of ‘psst‘-ing and ‘a-haah‘-ing among the beauty pack about a certain Duchess loving salon self-tanning treatments by Xen-Tan (so, maybe we’ll know the beauty secret behind her Jubilee glow this Bank Holiday weekend!).
Nonstopmama has been busily road-testing the latest gradual tanners – body lotions with a dash of self-tanning ingredient, that allow you to build colour over a few applications – so I thought we had to try the Xen Tan version – Transform Luxe Daily Self Tan (£25), which has scooped numerous beauty awards …

Whilst, I have to say, I think many of the budget ‘graduals’ do a fantastic job and you don’t need to splash out to get a great result, I loved this from the first application. It goes on super-smoothly, spreads quickly and absorbs well with a fresh, delicate scent.
Within a few hours and over the course of a day, it developed a really natural-looking , totally even golden glow (apart from a bit of a slip-up around one toe, which says more about my slap-dash application – and dry feet! Even with gradual tanners, it pays to be attentive about blending and take care over areas of dry, hard skin, where colour tends to ‘grab’ more. You can lightly wipe these areas over with a slightly dampened old towel or flannel afterwards).
I’m so impressed with this one, I’m keen to try the regular, once-weekly self-tanning formula and all-new Scent Secure Gold (£27) instant tinted bronzer, with 24 K gold leaf.
Intrigued? Me, too! Watch this space for that, and more of the hottest, safest ways to glow …
