Whirly-swirly sunscreen – and other new suncare loves!

Hawaiin Tropic Silk Hydration

They had me at sunscreen that closely resembles caramel swirl ice cream.

Which also smells delicious (coconut-y and beachy-fresh).

And the serious, high SPF? Hawaiin Tropic Silk Sensation (£15) = new suncare love.

I’ve been applying this like a body lotion every morning after showering, it smoothes on quickly and easily and leaves a lovely scent on the skin with no hint of greasiness.

I LOVE lotions that work like this – the ones which feel like regular body lotions but with sunscreen protection – especially for a British summer. It means you can sit at the sunny pavement café table when you’re surprised by the weather because, YAY!, you already put sunscreen on.

As happened to me today!

Suncare-wise, I’m also disproportionally excited to try the classic PIZ BUIN Moisturising Sun Lotion SPF 30 (£12.50) this summer, if only because I’m really drawn to the nostalgic dark brown, slightly metallic bottle. It’s reminds me of the summers of my teens, along with Coppertone and Bergasol and my Dad getting mad at me for making the sun lounger greasy.

And with the high SPF, again, too. Great stuff (OK, the one in the photo is the 15 – I won’t go lower than the 30 and from all I’ve learned from the experts, it’s what I wholeheartedly suggest to anyone who’ll listen as I ramble on about safe sun. It’s just so important).

Piz Buin LotionFor children, one of my all-time favourites is the brilliant, totally reliable Clarins SPF 50 + Suncare Milk For Children (£19). Easy, non-messy pump, 100 % mineral screen and fabulous protection.

Clarins Sun Milk For Children SPF 50

As is the new Bioderma Photo Derm Kid SPF 50 + (£16.50), which I’ve name-Sharpie-d and is a firm fixture in the school bookbag – it’s really nice, lightweight and easy to spread, too.

Bioderma Photoderm Kid SPF 50

More suncare, self-tanning and bronzing awesomeness to come!

Essie Fiesta

I also love the Nars Laguna Bronzer for a touch of colour.

And I’m never without a mascara. The Lancome Hynose Mascara is my favourite.

Your #nonstopgorgeous face and body favourites?

Our Balance Me Natural Perfection BB Cream is great for summer as it has a factor 25 and gives a beautiful sheer coverage when a foundation is too heavy for the hot weather. I also love our Rose Otto Body Balm to keep my legs moisturised and ready for dress weather.

Sunshine scent?

I tend to use our Super Toning Body Oil (part of our #nonstopgorgeous giveaway, below!) after my morning shower. That has such a heavenly  juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender scent that I don’t need another scent on top of it.

Healthy summer food?

I like to do light stir-fries during the summer, with steamed fish, or I’m a big Greek salad fan!

Sweet indulgence?

I love to do a bit of baking with my daughters, so at the moment we’re really into the Delia Smith carrot muffins or flapjacks. Perfect as an afternoon treat!

6 summer beauty favourites

Of course, I’ll be adding to these over the coming weeks! But right now I’m loving …

1.  Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel (£19)

Clarins Self Tanning Gel

Oh how I love a great self-tanner and what I love about this is that it gives the most natural-looking, medium sunkissed glow a few hours after the very first application. The gel is quick and easy to apply, doesn’t leave a smell on the skin (one of the reasons I converted a girlfriend to it, who LOVES it on her face – you can use it for both face and body).

The most foolproof deeper option to the slower-to-build-up gradual tans that I’ve come across and no hint of orange. Or Dorito, as my daughter puts it. Talk about telling it like it is.

Look out, too, for my pick of the latest self-tanners which ‘tan’ using alternatives to the traditional DHA in most formulas.

2.  The Organic Pharmacy Resculpting Body Gel (£94.96)

The Organic Pharmacy Resculpting Body Gel

Another body treat which I’m just loving, which is saying a lot as I’m NOT the most disciplined about applying firming and shaping creams. I tend to be good about it for the first day or three, then give up as I’m always in such a rush after a shower (usually because I’m already running late!).

But this is just lovely, it’s SO uplifting and refreshing to use and I have thigh hopes (ha ha!) about it helping to alleviate the hot weather puffiness I seem to get every summer when massaged in daily. I know I’m not the only one who experiences the feeling of ‘heavy legs’ at this time of year!

With green coffee, chilli and horsetail extract, this just feels so light and gorgeous to use and the gel formula spreads super-fast and it’s non-greasy so there’s no waiting around. Love it! If this is over your budget, check out the hugely popular Detox Cellulite Body Oil, £34.96, which gets rave reviews from beauty insiders and I’ve yet to try!

(Psst! Look out for a #nonstopgorgeous summer beauty insider interview with the inspirational Margo Marrone, founder of The Organic Pharmacy, coming to nonstopmama soon!).

3.  Sarah Chapman Bodylift (£28)

Sarah Chapman Bodylift

This one totally links in with the body gel, above. And it’s one of my ‘surprise’ favourites of the summer.

Designed to mimic the effect of an expert lymphatic drainage massage, it’s incredibly clever design makes it super-easy to roll over the body, boosting circulation as it goes. I’ve been using it with The Organic Pharmacy gel (above), to help beat the summer fluid retention and ‘puffies’ (I focus on the legs, but it’s supposed to be good for the upper arms, too).

I’ve just various massaging/firming/brushing gadgets over the years and I can truly say I think this one tops them all (and I’m rubbish about trying to follow complicated, multi-step massage techniques myself). This sort of does it for you. It really does feel like it’s making a difference.

4.  Caudelie Divine Legs Tinted Body Lotion (£26)

Caudelie Divine Legs Tinted Body Lotion

I LOVE this new wash-off, tinted bronzing veil for the body. It smells lovely, gives a lovely but subtle golden glow – just enough to take the edge off pasty pins.

And as it’s not an aerosol but a pump, you don’t risk ‘tanning’ the entire bathroom along with your legs. Highly recommended! (I’ve even used it on my arms at a pinch. Not sure if you’re meant to, but it worked fine!).

5.  Bobbi Brown CC Cream SPF 35 (£29)

obbi Brown CC Cream SPF 35

Love, love, love this as a summer make-up base. Great, natural-looking glow (I use Golden Nude, far right) and with a great SPF (although I’m going to wear it over a high SPF facial sun cream too in high summer, for full protection). So easy to apply and blend, not at all greasy feeling and totally perfect for when temperatures rise.

6.  Green & Spring Exfoliating Body Wash (£22)

Green & Spring Exfoliating Body Wash

This is a lovely, naturally-based wash which not only smells deliciously minty – great for wake-me-up showers! – it gives just enough of a scrub effect to leave skin feeling silky-smooth (great pre-self-tanner) and soft. I love this.

More coming soon! Including, TOMORROW!, a #nonstopgorgeous interview and giveaway with another of my absolute favourites, Balance Me - and some beauty secrets from co-founder, the lovely Rebecca Hopkins. Don’t miss it!
