AMAZING how smells can bring back memories, isn’t it?!
It happened for me in the beauty sense just this morning, as I was trying out the new Mandara Spa Honeymilk Dream Conditioning Shower Cream (part of the new Travel Set, above).
The scent immediately took me back to a scent from my childhood, although at first I couldn’t place it.
Sweet, soft, clean and fresh – was it the suncream in the amber and brown tube I was faithfully slathered with on beach holidays?
No, that wasn’t it.
Was it a skincare product my mother used (the scent of the original NIVEA cream, in its electric blue plastic pot, will always transport me back to watching her do her ritual at the bathroom sink. Oddly, the look and texture of Créme de la Mer also reminds me of it, too – so thick, white and super-intensive – although I’m not too sure they’d be so happy about the comparison! ).

1. The cleanser: Organic Surge’s new Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser (£12.50)
For the past few days, I’ve been trying out this new product from Organic Surge (the first I’ve tried, in fact!) and it’s LOVELY!
Beautiful, natural rose scent, light and creamy texture which then gently lathers with water. As it’s not oily, it doesn’t leave a greasy residue on the skin, so the result is a very clean-feeling (but not in any way tight) face.
